I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

I was shocked at how sad i felt when i found out Anissa passed on and I only just found out she was sick.

Love the book ones - I read so much i should at least try one of them.

I saw where you mentioned that you did not know Anissa or Travis but something moved you about what was happening. My wife and I have only known them for 3 years and we know exactly what you are talking about. They were the couple you meet in one out of 100 or 500 or 5,000 couples. They were so happy with each other, very much in love. A kind and gentle couple. My pastor once said that you shouldn't have to tell people you are a Christian. They should know. This was Travis and Anissa. Their glow spread to everyone who met them. They had been working very hard the past several years to save money to start their own business. It was on the verge of starting. Their son had just turned one. They were thrilled and happy and it was exciting just to know them. The loss of Anissa is obviously devastating to their families. The effect it has had on their hundreds of co-workers and casual friends is like nothing I have ever seen in my 52 years on this earth. Anissa and Travis were a blessed couple and I feel blessed to have known Anissa. Nothing short of my own mother's pre-mature passing has hit me as hard as Anissa's passing. It is going to be very hard on Travis but he has good friends who are going to do everything within their power and within God's will to help him.

~Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I know nothing about Anissa except that when I came across the post on Spiritbee's blog that a fund had been started to help her and her family ... it took my breath away. I am glad we are helping people who knew / know how to love well and inspire much. ~pam

(This comment is posted twice. HV originally posted it in "One More Update" I have also posted it for the Thursday Thirteener's info. Thanks. ~pam)

Hi MarillaAnne...thanks so much for stopping by my TT! I keep meaning to visit your blog when it's NOT TT, because you seem like such a cool person! God bless!

~Thanks Cindy, But let me assure you ... I have some very uncool moments ... but we aren't going to talk about them here ... just no reason to bore the people. ;~) pam

Ooof...I'm not sure about that handmade sanitary napkin thing. It looks like a lot of work...both in the creation and the maintenance. I don't mean to be all squeamish, but I think I would be grossed out in cleaning those things.

However I do like the sentiment behind the pads...recycling. I didn't stop to think about the impact that tampons and pads would also have on the landfills.

No 13 this week. I had a volunteer adventure today that I'm going to try to blog about this weekend.

~I look forward to hearing about your adventure.

As to the pads ... see yeah ... all that work! And you know the whole ecology thing is a lose-lose situation here. Because ... people carry on about the landfills but the flip side is that it takes water and at some point electric/gas energy to wash the things that we don't send to the landfill. And so I could launch off into a whole diatribe about how unaware we are about the water and air pollution we generate just by running washing machines (Not that I'm about to give mine up!) Oh yeah ... and don't even get me started on those horrendous perfumes in the fabric softners that make me gag when I walk through a neighborhood. Somewhere there's got to be a balance -- surely there is.

Soo uh er ... ok but the good thing about making your own pads is that you know what they're made of and you can control the chemicals in them by controlling your detergents. I'm not sure we can always say that about the pads we purchase.

Ok ... well ... ttyl

Thanks for sharing these links, especially Kelli's and Anissa's stories. I'll keep them in my prayers. Happy TT!
Rose 01/13/07
I too will keep them in my prayers. Thank you for dropping by my blog.
MarillaAnne 01/13/07
I really appreciate the prayers ... and I am sure they do too ...

But I want to be very clear on something ... I am not asking simply for prayers ... I am well ... I am having tons of gall here ... I am asking you all to participate in a very physical, material way.

Even if we only have ten cents to our name ... or even if we do not have that... THIS time ... THIS Time with Kelli ... WE ALL have a chance to make a difference. ... Because even if you don't have ten cents, you have a basket (your blog, your email, your phone). Show up in the world and let God fill it.

I've written more about this here: Kelli Needs a Kidney.

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
