Note: READ Voices in my Cell Phone BEFORE READING THIS POST! ...
Ok in my IM's (Instant Messages) there is one steady theme and voice. If I cut and paste every time I hear this voice and his theme ... ya'll would strangle me. In general it goes like this ... IMing with the Hubby aka The Man - Him: I love you.
- Me: I love you.
- Him: BTW (By the way) There's something you should know. You're stuck.
- Me:I am not stuck. I'm wallering. I'm wallering like a piglet in a mud puddle. waller walller waller.
- Him: Yes, you are stuck.
- Me: I'm not stuck unless you're trying to pull me out ...
- Him: I'm not trying to pull you out. You're stuck because you can't quit waller'n.
- Me: You're the one that's stuck. You're stuck because I'm not gonna quit waller'n
- ... In case you're wondering ... the real word for waller is wallow.
- .... ok I'll quit now ... but it goes on and on like this off and on all day every day. There's other versions that include "shh I've got a secret ... nobody can know ... I love you." ... yeah ok ... let's move on to other oddities in my life.
Wait! I forgot! He's got a new theme recently. "Do you know which camera you want? The rebate comes next week. You had better know when that money hits the bank." Seems he's peeved with me. Wants me to move on in my skills. So ... Ya'll ... I'm open to suggestions at the DSLR level. ~~~~ So ... I have these friends ... who I've never met. I know this sounds really strange to you. ... Oh wait ... I haven't met you either ... hmmm Well, anyway, this never having met sometimes makes us a little bit bolder. I mean so what if you freak out someone you've never met? If they go away, have you really lost anyone real? Ok that's another subject for another day. But so ... here's how the conversation went. - SLF: I'm going crazy. I keep hearing a voice calling my name.
- Me: Does it wake you up at night?
- SLF: Yes!
- Me: Me too
- Me: It's not exactly calling -- not like shouting or calling out -- it's more like someone is stating my name.
- SLF: Right.
- Me: It's like someone saying my name to get my attention.
- SLF: Like someone wants my attention.
The last two lines crossed each other -- as in we typed and sent them at the same time. After SLF and I got over the initial shock of (first) actually being daring enough to admit this was happening to both of us and (second) that we both have the same impression, I told how I've come to deal with this little event. Well, I figure if someone needs my attention, it can't be my nephew since he's well cared for in heaven. So, I spend some time praying for my family (which also includes his family). Ok so then we were ready to drop the subject ... but I was curious. You see, SLF recently lost her mom. And for me, it happens close to the anniversary of my nephew's death and his birthday. I knew of one other person who could possibly also relate. My Friend L. She's lost grandparents, parents, and a husband. So I talked with her. That real life conversation went like this ... - FL: Yes it happens to me ... they say it's your subconscious but who really knows.
- Me: It seems women are most susceptible.
- FL: Oh I believe it happens to men. They just won't admit it.
- The Man: Oh? You really think so?
- FL: Oh! I guarantee it!
And so ended the conversation as The Girl showed up. ~~~~ Friday May 9 - Me to VioletKey: I talked to Sarah yesterday. She was on her way back to work after her sonogram.
- VioletKey: Yes we talked last night. The doctor called & confirmed all looks well.
- Me: Good.
- VioletKey: Did you get the other news?
- Me: Other news?
- VioletKey: Crockett died yesterday evening. I didn't press Sarah for a lot of details but Stephen came home and found him in a great deal of pain. He tried to get Crockett to a nearby vet but he died on the way.
- Me:Oh Nooooo
- VioletKey: It was a stomach tumor. Matt [her hubby the vet tech] tells me it's not unusual for dobermans to have undetected stomach tumors.
- ....They are really going to miss him ... I'm really going to miss him. He was a really really great dog! I'm still getting all teary-eyed.

| I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.
Commenting Ideas- If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
- If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
- If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
- If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
- It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.
| Comments | | | | So, first of all, I am very glad to see posts from you. I seem to have stopped writing altogether for a bit (or at least barely trickle out the words). It always seems to happen right after I write some good stuff. :)
The voices calling....usually, when I hear it, it is my husband's voice or someone else I know/have known. I have a theory about it though. You remember when God was calling Samuel and he kept going in because he thought Eli was calling him (I believe 1 Samuel 3)? After three times, Eli finally said, "Look, it's not me calling you, it's God," to paraphrase. ;)
Anyway, I think the voice of God sometimes manifests in voices that have brought us comfort in our lives - voices we recognize and are prone to respond to. I usually feel it must be a call to prayer and awareness in some regard. But ya know, I think Samuel goes to show that at least some men DO hear it too.
-t (who has always been susceptible to such things)
P.S. I really have more to say, but don't really have the time or concentration to say it. you know I can go on and on....
~ Yes! The voice usually sounds like my dad or my husband. Besides, my nephew always called me Aunt Pam.
Thank you for reminding me of Samuel and Eli ... and God. I found it encouraging that we both view the event as a call to prayer.
Feel free to send me long rambly thoughts in an email. And, yes, it's nice to begin to feel able to express myself through my writing again. Thanks for all the encouragement. ~pam | | |
