Oh Lord ... Please spare them sorrow upon sorrow.

January 10, 2007 at 07:31 AM CST

Thank you all for the kind words and prayers. I now fully understand what a sacrifice of praise is because I gave one yesterday and continue to do so this morning. We have had added grief last night with a phone call regarding Travis' dad, Mike. He was on his way home from the hospital and had what they suspected to be a heart attack. We all drove to Sara Bush Lincoln Hospital near Charleston, Illinois where they admitted Travis' dad. When we left the hospital they were still running some test to determine what actually happened but thought maybe it was exhaustion related. Please lift him and especially Travis up in prayer as he is bearing a big load already. We all plan to travel back to Robinson today and take care of some things then make our way back to Texas to arrange Nissy's services. Please continue to pray for my kids until I can get home to them. Not only is this the biggest loss they have ever experienced it is the only one that I havent been able to be there for them and it has made it extremely difficult.
Love to you all!
Carrie

I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

I saw where you mentioned that you did not know Anissa or Travis but something moved you about what was happening. My wife and I have only known them for 3 years and we know exactly what you are talking about. They were the couple you meet in one out of 100 or 500 or 5,000 couples. They were so happy with each other, very much in love. A kind and gentle couple. My pastor once said that you shouldn't have to tell people you are a Christian. They should know. This was Travis and Anissa. Their glow spread to everyone who met them. They had been working very hard the past several years to save money to start their own business. It was on the verge of starting. Their son had just turned one. They were thrilled and happy and it was exciting just to know them. The loss of Anissa is obviously devastating to their families. The effect it has had on their hundreds of co-workers and casual friends is like nothing I have ever seen in my 52 years on this earth. Anissa and Travis were a blessed couple and I feel blessed to have known Anissa. Nothing short of my own mother's pre-mature passing has hit me as hard as Anissa's passing. It is going to be very hard on Travis but he has good friends who are going to do everything within their power and within God's will to help him.

~Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I know nothing about Anissa except that when I came across the post on Spiritbee's blog that a fund had been started to help her and her family ... it took my breath away. I am glad we are helping people who knew / know how to love well and inspire much. ~pam

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
