Telling My Stories and Discovering Your Stories

MarillaAnne's del.icio.us Thursday Thirteen #1
12/14/06

Every day I bump into the most amazing things on the Internet. But there's no way I can blog about them all ... until I mushed up the Thursday Thirteen and del.icio.us linkroll.

This week pay special attention to what BooMama's church is doing. And could us "intellectual-types" "goody-two-shoes-types" please get out and mingle over at YouTube and make good stuff "buzzy," too?

I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

Very interesting links, thanks for sharing them. I adore Jacquie Lawson's e-cards and I'm a member of Bookcrossing (though not very active yet).
My TT is about holiday decorations.

Good to meet you MarillaAnne and welcome to the TT! Your first post is terrific - what a wonderful list of links; unique every one! Thank you for stopping by today to see my Christmas ornament TT. Drop by again any time. Happy Thursday,
Dk
Thank you so much for the link and your kind words :)

I came for the TT but stayed for so many more reasons!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, I thought I'd check out yours but that was several hours ago. In between throwing pizzas in the oven for the kids, kissing my husband goodnight, squeezing in and out of quick conversations with my mom and my mother in law, and getting the kids in bed I've been glued here.

I just finished reading about Gavin - so very sweet yet it stirs up so many emotions within me. I also have two children waiting for me, Jacob and Elizabeth.

I'll be back! ;)

I was here the other day and tried to comment, to no avail!

I wanted to come back and thank you for this great bunch of links. BooMama's video was very clever, and I've bookmarked The Young Conservative. (I thoroughly enjoyed the information he posted in his Advent Calendar.) The Snowdog was beautiful (and fun). Some luscious photos at Apricot Ambrosia, and I've added Prime Rib to our Christmas menu. Thanks again!

Let me see (this gets long) ... to get caught up ...

Tink, I am having a hard time letting go of books right this min. I just spent two years paring down my books to my "wisdom collection" that follows me from state to state. However my daughter in law just started working in a used book store in Plano. I can't wait to tell her about the BookCrossings and maybe I can get her to send me a few to share around.

Angela, I admire people who come forward and tell their whole story. Too often the stories of our lives get burried along with parts of our souls.

Deanna, The Story of Gavin was the first time I wrote down one of my life stories as a gift to myself and the people I love -- with the intent to share it publicly for the rest of my life. And I've only recently come to understand that that is so much of what my writing is about. If I can't create a story with someone I love in mind while I write, it simply doesn't happen. And it has to end up being something I want to go back and read to remember and re-understand.

I think that's why it blows me away how strongly my writing can affect others. In my mind, during the telling of the story, I'm simply writing for me and mine.

I'm glad you found the sweetness in the story because that is that's story's purpose. I was afraid I'd lose the memory of the sweetness and just be left with the bitter.

I'm glad you know your children are waiting with mine. And I'm glad you told me we have this in common.

e-mom: the reason you couldn't comment was revenge. j/k I laughed when I read you had problems here after my mis-adventure at your blog. I just want everybody's site to work all the time ... Right NOW.

I needed some encouragement this week and BooMama's church and the Young Conservative each did their part. I'm glad you enjoyed them, too!

We aren't going to get to do spare-rib since PeaPod doesn't carry them. BUT we did get a very nice sized eye of round AND a turkey. At the last moment I found out that I like a lentil & turkey soup that I created in one of those ... "oh a little of this and a little of that moments." So I allowed the man to get another turkey ... as long as I also get beef and dressing and cranberry sauce ... yeah we loved Thanksgiving's dinner so much we might live on the same recipes all winter.

Anyway, I'd love to hear how yours goes.

And ...

Ali, DK, and Amy, thanks for the complements! I'm glad you enjoyed the list. I also enjoyed your sites.

ttyl,
pam

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
