Musings & Memories Montage
Telling My Stories and Discovering Your Stories

So... Are we ready to roll?
11/26/06

Launching into the holidays ... I wonder ....

What are you planning to do with your blog ... the holidays are just beginning to be demanding ... and NaBloPoMo is nearly over ...

How do you plan to keep the excitement in your blog?

I've been roaming around ... looking for ideas ... and there are some interesting activities going on out there ...

But ... can I be nosey and ask ... what are you planning?

Well, I spent my evening building a commenting tool that will live on my blog ... well and my web site for that matter.

The comments are still moderated so there will remain a delay. But trust me ... there are worse things in life.

I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

This is a test of my new commenting system. It took about three hours for me to figure out how it should work and then apply it ... I think I like these HyperSites tools ;-D

Hey there! Right now I am so excited that NaBloPoMo is nearly over that I haven't thought too, too much about what comes after that.

Thinking about it quickly, I might try the following:

1. Keep on Sleeping with Bread. Although my SWB posts get the fewest comments. This one is for me and I love that there are a few others out there who join me.
2. One creative writing meme per week. The Word Bead, Writer's Digest and Sunday Scribblings have all been great challenges to me. I don't know that I can keep up with them all, but I think I should keep challenging myself in that way.
3. I did a Friday Fripperies post which seemed to get a good response. I might make that a regular feature. It would keep things lightened up around Life, the Universe and Everything. Not 100% sure but thinking about it.
4. Finally, if I can manage, one "meaningful" post... talking about social justice or personal development, etc.

Just an idea. What do you think?

Oh, and I do have a post brewing in my head that I might want you to promote soon. I'll let you know when it is ready.

See you around the blog'verse!

I've changed some colors on my blog. It's red and green for the holidays.

Seriously though, I've already been getting the blog into some more directories and I'm still adding dad blogs to the blogroll. And when NaBloPoMo is over I hope to post at least three times a week. Then maybe I'll have more time for blog reading too.

Oh geez, I'm supposed to be making plans for the post NaBloPoMo life of my blog??? Well, it is a good idea to give it some thought now, while my head is still in the blog mindset. I would love to do some redecorating, but honestly, I dread dealing with html code and it takes me a while to make a template feel like home, so I likely won't do any kind of holiday theme. I know some friends who do the Thursday Love and Works For Me Wednesday things, but my problem is that I may not blog on those particular days and then it gets all out whack, and so why do it anyway. I used to do the Friday Five, but haven't in a while. I tend to just the Meme's that speak to me, when I see them on someone else's blog.

So I guess there you have it, I don't have a plan! :)

Although I think I will continue reading some of the other blogs that I've found and enjoy (yours being one of them) during NaBloPoMo.

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
