Trying out a new slide show. I've not written about the images yet so if you have Q's, you'll have to ask.

I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

Well, if that doesn't feel like Christmas, I don't know what does! I hope you had a splendid holiday.

~ Dear me, ;p the irony is that on Christmas eve is started melting and there wasn't tons and tons left by Christmas day!

It started as snow that stayed for about 2 days and then inches and inches of frozen rain fell. Then, just before the melting start, that very morning we woke up to the prettiest sugar frosting of snow. That's when I went outside to take photos.

It was difficult to walk. Every step was like walking across a thawing pond. I could hear the ice cracking under me. I learned very quickly to step flat footed and keep my knees bent! I never knew which step was going to be a sudden drop of about about six inches.

But it was worth it!

Shelbie looks sooo good against snow! Those are some very lovely shots. I really like the close up ones of ice covered branches. I still really want to come visit in the spring.

Q: some of the first shots have what looks like frozen water in the middle - is this your "backyard"?

~ I'd love to have you visit ... all you have to do is figure it out ;p I don't think telling your sister that your not going to come see your new niece is an option, though.

Yes all of those shots that look like they were taken from the same place were indeed taken from the same place -- the safety of my living room, through the window.

Down in the swamp is a little spring fed pond. When it freezes over, it's cold!

In the "I thought I left Texas dept.": Yesterday and today I've had the door open all day. It is currently sunny and 58. Tomorrow will be cloudy and 47. Go figure.

I love your snow pictures -- all very beautiful. This is the first time I've been able to get on in weeks. We had some "Texas" weather this past weekend. It was nearly 80 degrees from Friday to Monday. Our heater didn't run for four days and I left my back door open too! It was so beautiful. This week has been nice too -- sunny and highs in the upper 50's and low 60's.

Love to you both.

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
