:~) Ya'll are incredible! I don't know what else to say.
You have no idea what it means to me to know there are such gracious women in my life.
(Okay and there was also this guy who came from Second Life and read my blog and came back to me in SL and said, "You have impact. Go write.")
Yes, Terri, I have been in Second Life a lot. It's kind of becoming my whole Internet.
Of course, in SL I'm not much different than in RL (Real Life), I've started a networking group ... and I've actually sold a few of my images at about $1.25usd each. And I've ended up giving a whole lot of advice.
At first my avatar seemed to be carrying around a sign that said "ask me geeky questions." Now, she also seems to be carrying around a sign that says "ask me relationship questions." And the other night a "ask me business questions" sign popped up right over her head.
I wish ya'll were in world. It is so much fun.
It's not stable at all -- not the software, nor the society, nor the financial structure. The communication techniques are IM's and "notecards." It feels very archaic.
But ... I am convinced it is like the future will be. It is like the Internet that ya'll will also live in shortly.
I have trouble bouncing back and forth between the two worlds -- the two different kinds of Internet -- not Second Life and Real Life. That is very hard to put words to ... but right now I feel like I have to flip something in my brain.
Like ... I forget I have normal email! And writing my blog about random thoughts seems ... odd ... It seems out of sync ...
OH! OH! I think I know a lot of the reason. In SL almost everything is conversation. Static information in SL is nearly non-existent in formats that people pay attention to -- one reason is that formats available for static information in SL are absolutely horrendous. BUT it's like the old days of AOL ... people are talking to people mostly through IM's and totally loving the connection ...
So when I come and try to just write something to impress ... it feels flat.
Sooooo ... since ya'll are obviously a chatty bunch ... I'm going to be more conversational in my posts. Instead of just replying in comments ... I'm going to try writing more of my posts as replies. See?
And so ... anyway ...
here's my question ... Do you really want to know about my adventures in Second Life (and how they are very much impacting my "Real Life")?
Yes, I know ya'll kind of gave me permission before ... but does it really interest you as much as say ... uhh err ... the fact that we went to Long Island last weekend?
I'm not asking which one is more interesting. I'm asking is one as interesting as the other?
Ok and no we are not going to analyze why I am asking because we know that in the end it's my blog and I have to decide.
Still, I love to hear ya'lls thoughts.
