Weekend Words -- View, Conceal
02/21/07

I have had these photos stashed away inside my camera since the Valentines Snow Daze. I took them all standing at my living room window. They fit the Weekend Words (for this Past Weekend), View and Conceal, in an interesting way.

Enjoy!

Oh! Wait! With this set of images if you click on one of them, it will take you to my collection over at Flick'r. There are more photos there.

Ok, now, Enjoy!

My living room windows give me quite an amazing view ...

Good Snowy Morning
Looking down into The Great Swamp

Time to Stock up
Even the birds knew it was time to stock up!

But it's equally amazing when the view gives clues to what the trees are prone to conceal.

Mr.Falcon
Mr. Falcon

Cardinal Cardinal?
Mr.&Mrs. Cardinal (I presume)
You really will want to click and go see them in my Flick'r photos.

I enjoy your comments. And I want you to enjoy reading each other's comments. To that end purpose, I moderate comments. If you're impatient, MeeboMe.

Commenting Ideas
  • If you do not have a blog or site, skip the "web site" line, pull a name or "handle" out of your head, write a note, push the button. (No excuses!)
  • If this entry reminds you of a story of a similar place in time in your life, you are welcome to tell your story.
  • If you discover your story is taking more than 3 or 4 paragraphs (and if you have a place on the web for your writings), I will not be insulted if you take your story back and finish it at your own site. But then I will be disappointed if you don't come back and leave me a summary of your story and a link -- in the comments.
  • If you have already written a story about a similar place in time, please feel free to leave a summary and a link.
  • It's never too late to make a comment or tell a story.

Your view from your living room is beautiful! The falcon is amazing. I love how you can only really see Mrs. Cardinal's bright red beak.

~ Isn't it incredible? I am sure God was saving this place just for us. Today the temp is in the mid 40's. I have one window cracked open just enough to air the place out for about an hour. Shelbie is snuggled up in her perch sniffing the air and getting up to look out from time to time. Hmmm so one day I'll take a pic of her new perch. ~pam

You are a great photographer! I love the Mr. Falcon picture. Absolutely great, that is! Also, I appreciate the view out of your window. I often wonder what the life of my blogger friends looks like, ya know?

~ Actually Sophie I am much better with Photoshop than with a camera ... although this camera is actually giving me a chance to become better with a camera.

I really enjoy getting to see the surroundings of the bloggers. People think that where they live is so commonplace ... but really ... there's a whole world out there that doesn't understand anything about our particular spot in the world. And even if someone lives next door, I'm betting they don't see your neighborhood the same way you do. That's why I love it when someone does a photo essay about their world.

What a wonderful view from your window! I especially like the picture of Mr. Falcon. I was in Arizona awhile back and kept hearing a familiar sound. After a bit I realized I was hearing a hawk. Took me awhile to place the sound with memory!

By the way, hope you don't mind, but I tagged you for the 123 Book Meme. Please let me know if you prefer not to be tagged for such things. I don't get too many of these, but enjoy anything "book"! You can see my post over at Tip of the Iceberg.

~ Hey Terri! Thanks. I've seen this bird soaring out over the swamp several times and once my landlord saw him land for a brief moment but we didn't get to see him long at all. This particular day he sat in the tree for about 30 min. (I think the weather was making him tired. It was pouring down freezing rain.) So finally we've gotten to see more than silhouettes.

I don't mind doing memes at all but I think it may be long into next week before I get to do it.

Very much enjoyed chatting with you yesterday with meebo. Your timing was impeccable and your company so appreciated -- helped me crawl down off the ceiling just a bit.

My website is largely my memoir ... my musings, photos, encounters, life's stories.

But what really thrills me is that when I let go of my stories, it's like sending out little sail boats out on expeditions. Very often they come back to me filled with other people's stories. Continue...
